321 Stainless Steel Fasteners
The titanium-stabilized stainless steel alloy 321 is also known as UNS S32100. Fasteners composed of austenitic stainless steel with restricted carbon content and an alloy incorporating chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen are known as stainless steel 321 fasteners. In corrosive situations, stainless steel 321 fasteners are used. In chloride solutions, it is resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and intergranular corrosion. It has an excellent capacity to resist corrosion.

Because of its exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion when subjected to temperatures between 427° C and 816° C during chromium precipitation, the 321 grade of stainless steel was developed. The alloy of stainless steel 321 fasteners is stabilized against the development of chromium carbide due to the addition of titanium. Alloy 321 was created to improve creep resistance and increase strength at higher temperatures. These alloy types can only be cold worked; heat treatment is not an option.

321H Stainless Steel Fasteners

The alloy 321H grade, also known as UNS S32109, has a more significant carbon content. The increased creep strength characteristics of this grade are intended for hoisted temperatures. Alloy 321H Fasteners have high intergranular corrosion resistivity between temperatures of 427°C and 816°C when exposed to the chloride carbide precipitating process. It even can easily combat all types of corrosion.

The premium form of 321 alloy fasteners, known as 321H alloy fasteners, were introduced to the industry to provide massive strength by adding a suitable amount of carbon into the manufacturing process. These fasteners were created for use in environments with high temperatures where corrosion resistance was necessary. Even moderate temperatures offer superior oxidation resistance up to 2010 degrees Fahrenheit. It is more resistant to sulfidation due to its higher chromium and mild nickel content. Additionally, these fasteners can be used in conditions with moderate carburization. Wet corrosion resistance is adversely affected by 321H alloy. It is more resistant to high temperatures than heat-resistant alloys because of the high chromium concentration.

It can be employed in the challenging carburizing environments of thermal processing equipment because of the nickel concentration. Applications for SS 321H fasteners include concentric oxidizing, nitriding, thermal cycling, and cementing. Its maximum service life decreases in this temperature range. These fasteners' low magnetic properties make them very useful in cold settings. It is resilient down to -450 degrees Fahrenheit. The version of 321 H with more carbon was created to increase creep resistance. For instance, the needs of both higher and lower carbon versions can be met by carbon composition. As a result, these fasteners are simple to weld using all standard welding techniques. However, it is easily handled using routine fabrication processes in shops.
