Alloy Steel WP22 Buttweld Fittings are fittings with the addition of chromium, molybdenum, and occasionally vanadium. The element chromium, often called chrome, increases tensile strength, yield, and hardness while also enhancing oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength. Hardenability, strength, wear resistance, elastic limit, and impact resistance are all improved by molybdenum. It inhibits grain growth, lessens embrittlement, and increases softening tolerance in chromium steel. Moly is also the ideal addition for increasing creep resistance or creep strength at high temperatures. Also, it lessens pitting and increases steel's execration to corrosion. Grade WP22 is used for high-temperature service applications because it can withstand changes in its microstructure.
